Using a calorie counter

It's important to watch what you eat and make sure you burn enough calories. A calorie counter machine can calculate how many calories you burned by monitoring heart and rhythm rates and by measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Unfortunately, calorie counters are not always accurate and can be used only as a guideline. If you use a calorie counter, do not go with default settings; always add in your weight.
