Junk food will be restricted in British schools

According to a report in The Times [1], new nutrition standards will be phased this year and become compulsory by next autumn in British schools. Every food that has more than 10% fat in it is considered a bad choice for children’s school meals. So burgers containing up to 19% fat and chicken nuggets 17% will be on the "blacklist". Chips, sticky puddings and ice cream will be restricted to a single serving per week. To ensure pupils receive a balanced diet, schools will provide complete menus. For more information, please read Nutrient-Based Standards for School Food Summary report (2005) [2] developed by the Caroline Walker Trust.
