It is may be very tempting to lose weight by eating cookies, but can the cookie diet help you achieve healthy, long-term weight loss?
The cookies diet is a very-low-calorie diet based on appetite-suppressing meal replacements in the form of cookies. There are some varieties of the cookie diet on the market including the Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Die, the Smart for Life Cookie Diet, and the Hollywood Cookie Diet. The diet usually consists of four to six cookies and a light dinner per day. The caloric intake is limited to about 800 calories per day. The cookie diet is seriously lacking in fruits and vegetables and may not provide sufficient energy, fiber, vitamins and minerals.
The cookies diet does not encourage exercise as the calorie deficit required for weight loss is achieved by limiting the caloric intake. You are bound to lose weight when your caloric intake is reduced so much, but it is not healthy weight loss. Moreover, most people are likely to gain the weight back when they resume their normal eating habits. The cookies diet is not a healthy, long-term weight loss approach.
