  • Dear Anonymous Guest, This is not anorexic state. But this is still unhealthy. Depending on age and weight the average calorie intake should be around 2,861 calories per day. By eating healthy and even just walking around 3 miles a day even if you are just walking around your house doing house work you should maintain weight. To lose weight walk more, still eat healthy, and add more exercise to a daily routine. Hope you are happy, healthy, and get to your goal healthily.

  • Excuse me. Not to harp on vegetarians, and I am an animal lover myself. I have a bachelor’s degree in animal science and welfare, and I have taken many courses in nutrition. I however do eat meat. Your suggestion to eliminate carbs and “solids” is way off base for someone who is athletic. Eating more lean protein and whole grains (unprocessed breads and rice are best) will help build muscle keep off fat and make you feel less hungry throughout the day. Your suggestion of eating vegetable is not wrong either as lots of fiber will also help you stay feeling full, but there are also not enough calories to eat those alone for someone who is athletic. IF you are vegetarian or want to be vegetarian there are better ways like eating lots of seeds mixed with beans and grains to increase your protein intake. Any real, healthy, and knowledgeable vegetarian will tell you that. There are lots of books out there for vegetarian diets and recipes. That being said, yes unfortunately in some animal farming companies there is a mistreatment of animals which are used for human consumption. But there are also many regulations put into place to reduce stress, and uphold the humane treatment of such animals. It all depends on which company you are buying products from. For anyone else who is thinking of becoming vegetarian for animal rights purposes, check ALL your facts before coming to a conclusion, and steer away from extremist groups like PETA who know little to nothing about animals. As much as I love animals, animals are NOT humans and should not be treated as such. That’s not to say that they should be mistreated, but you wouldn’t try to interact with your cat the same way you would interact with your dog. Animals have been proven to be happier when you treat them in a way that their species behaves and interacts. I’m off topic now, sorry for the rant.

  • No! That is not healthy! you need to figure out your caloric needs daily (BMR+activities) and then subtract about 500 calories. NEVER eat below 1200 calories per day, this will cause huge long problems in your metabolism. There is no quick fix to weight loss if you want it to last more than a few days. If you are like any other American, the best thing you can probably do for yourself is transition into eating only whole foods, if it didn’t have a mother or come off of a plant DON’T EAT IT!!! (as Jillian Michaels advised in one of her wonderful books)

  • Your best bet would to either discuss this issue with a trusted teacher or school counselor. You may want to bring it up with her parents but judging from what her mom said she may think that she’ll seem like a horrible person or just down right not care (now I’m not saying that that will happen but it could) bring it up with a a family member that your friend is really close to shell need to go to a eating disorders clinic where they will teach her how to refeed and shell need counciling if you feel there is no one you can trust with this then best be would to notify cps and the school principal but you should tell her parents they may not like what they will have to hear but it may be the only way for your friend to be able to take a step closer to recovering if you have any more questions notify me at I really hope I got this to you I. Time and that your friend gets better

  • Hello, No. You don’t need to lose any weight. You are actually underweight. You do not want to start restricting your diet and exercising constantly. Trust me. I’m recovering from anorexia. I am 17, 5’7″ and I now weigh anywhere from 116-120. I dropped down to 69 pounds where I was only given two more days to live. I was admitted to the hospital, which was the worst experience of my life. I’m telling you this because I dont want you to go down the same path that I took. You are perfect the way you are. 130 pounds is perfectly normal for your height, anyways. Weight is just a number, it shouldn’t tell you how you should feel about yourself. Please, just exercise normally and eat a healthy diet. Your body will thank you. You will get your period back when your body knows that you are at a healthy, STABLE weight. If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask me. 🙂

  • i am no doctor, but i am a health teacher and former coach. you need to eat! you don’t have to over indulge, but at your age you need good wholesome need vitamins and minerals to make your bones strong. not eating right can have an effect on yor teeth, skin, bones, finger nails, etc. i am probably not telling you anything you don’t already know, but , you need to eat!you need to drink at least 8-12 ounces of milk a day. and 6-8 8oz glasses of water. protien. chicken breast, lean beef, pork chops. potatoes, wheat bread, vegatables. green beans, peas, broccoli, any kind of vegatable really. but please eat.also, get you a good one a day vitamin. you need to make sure you get the vitamins your body needs. if you need someone to talk to, i am sure your school has a counselor.i would also be willing to listen to you. good luck!

  • HI, I’m a 17 year old female I’m 5’5 and weigh between 108 and 110. I work out 5 to 6 days a week for about an hour and a body doesn’t really look thin though. I think it’s just because of my muscle mass.but I would like to know how many calories a day I need to eat in order to keep that same family owns a vitamin store so I take oil, zinc and lots of protein.i also want to know if it would be healthy for me to drop about 3 pounds?

  • Eat more than that! If you’re feeling hungry all the time, your body will go into starvation mode and you will gain weight. Also, if you want to lose weight, I personally know a friend who actually lost 5 pounds on the Special K diet. Try it. I weigh the same and I’m 2 inches shorter.. so I know how you feel.

  • Hi, I’m a bulimic. I never thought I was because I didn’t think I was thin enough to have an eating disorder. But I’m 17 years old and it started about 2 years ago right before my 9th grade year. I got myself down to 110 by purging restricting and exercising. But I was sent to treatment twice and am on the verge of going again. I not weigh 130, I’m 5’8″ and at a healthy weight (which I still feel is nasty) My advice is stop what you are doing right now. This isn’t helping us. It’s making us gain weight in the long run. No vitamins can help you replenish what your missing out on because the water soluble vitamins get washed away with your urine and the fat soluble vitamins need to be eaten WITH A FAT to be absorbed. There is no such thing as having control over an eating disorder. Believe me you don’t want to be put into a hospital.

  • Im a 15 year old male and i am starting training 3 to 5 times per week how many calories should i eat to get from 240 to 200 in a steady amount of time?

  • She is 17 years old, 5’6.5″, I can only guess that she weighs somewhere from 115 lbs to 110 lbs or less. She is athletic and only gets around 4-6 hours of sleep a night. She works out almost constantly, trying to lose weight that she can’t afford to lose. She says that she is not anorexic but she avoids eating as much as possible, and she will not tell me how much she weighs unti she loses 10 lbs. Whenever something goes wrong she thinks it is her fault, and cuts. When one of her friends was caught, she stopped cutting her wrists and started cutting her thighs. Last month, she and her brother were pulled over and he was given a $265 ticket, she gave her brother $80 to help pay for it, and cut her hips 265 times. Just this past week, she got into a fight with her boyfriend over a poem she wrote, and she cut again. The next night her mom told her that she had received an email from a teacher saying that she and her boyfriend needed to stop groping in the hall or they could be expelled, and her mother gave a speech. After the speech, my friend went to her room and cut some more. After talking with her for 3 years, I have learned that she despises herself because she believes that she is a failure, and that she believes that she is bigger than a blue whale; she has little to no self-confidence, and she doubts herself about everything; when she was 7 her mother asked her something along the lines of “If your father and I were to spend a lot of money on your face, would you prefer it be your nose or your teeth?” and other not so pleasant things for a young girl to be asked; she seems to want to fade into nothing; and that against all odds, she trusts me about most things. I tried to get her to eat more and relax more while I was still living near her, and now that distance has put a stop to all in-person attempts, I have tried everything that I can think of from this distance. Please give me some advice, I don’t know what to do or say anymore.

  • I am 16 years old. I’m 5’4″ and weight 134. I heard that a girl my age and my height is supposed to weigh 120 lbs, Is that true? I’ve been exercising; jogging and working on my muscles. A lot of people say I look thin but I don’t think I do. What I want to know is if my weight is okay or normal for my height and age.
